Alec Winston Gibson, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on February 26, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on December 1, 1940, Alec exemplified a life of quiet integrity, intellect, and kindness. He was not just an accomplished architect, but a cherished member of his family and community.

Alec pursued his professional dream through rigorous academics, earning a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the esteemed Cooper Union. His professional career was marked by many significant achievements, including his notable work on the Pentagon redesign in the early 2000’s, where his architectural vision helped revitalize this iconic American institution.

Prior to his career in architecture, Alec proudly served in the US Army Reserve as military police, dedicating several years of his life in service to his country. This experience shaped his character, instilling in him a sense of discipline and responsibility that he carried throughout his life.

In addition to his professional achievements, Alec was known for his quiet and kind personality, as well as his wonderful sense of “British” humor. He had a passion for reading, poker, art, and archeological mysteries, often enjoying a dry martini or Chardonnay as he savored life's finer points.

Alec leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his daughters, Alecia Richardson and Christine Garrity; his grandchildren, Ruby Richardson, Sierra Garrity, and Kael Garrity. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Gibson, and his brother, Geoffrey Gibson.

Alec's legacy will live on through the lives he touched, the laughter he inspired, and the love he unconditionally gave. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
