Alisa Keogh Romero

Alisa Keogh Romero, 64, passed away on July 9 after a courageous battle with glioblastoma multiform, a form of brain cancer with no cure.

Alisa was a big personality in a small package. Quick with a smile and a laugh, she lit up every room. She was kind, courageous, loving, funny, inspirational, persuasive and a force to be reckoned with as she knew with certainty that there was no mountain that could not be moved or mind that could not be changed. She showed us all what strength and determination really mean and loved with her whole heart.

Alisa was a wonderful wife of 38 years to Raul Romero; her soulmate, companion, greatest champion and biggest fan who fought by her side until her last breath. She was an amazing mother of two wonderful children, Joana Romero and Anna Luisa Romero, of whom she was so proud and so full of love - they were the joy of her life. She was a loving baby sister, a doting aunt, caring daughter-in-law, and thoughtful, supportive, present, compassionate friend to countless people who will miss her dearly and hold her in their hearts forever.

Whether on the water or on the golf course, the boardroom or her living room, Alisa was a joyful, lovely presence. She knew exactly the right thing to bring, to say, to add to the situation so that the people around her were comfortable and cared for; knowing innately what would make people feel special. She was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in Mississippi. After a successful career in sales, Alisa curated special events for companies and non-profits in the District of Columbia and Northern Virginia. She was a member of the Pohick Episcopal Church and was a welcome addition to every group including the Junior League of Washington and the Country Club of Fairfax.

We are grateful for every moment we had with Alisa in our lives and her pretty shoes are impossible to fill.
