Amy Emiko Shibao, 66, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, in Alexandria, Virginia.

Amy lived a life filled with adventure, connection, and purpose. Through her work, her travels, and most of all her relationships with family and friends, she touched the lives of so many people. She had an enthusiastic and positive spirit that made her a joy to be around, and she had a remarkable ability to find wonder and possibility in the world around her.

Amy loved to travel and experience new places and cultures. She embraced adventure with curiosity and excitement, always eager to see what was around the next corner. One of her most recent adventures took her to Greenland, a reflection of her lifelong desire to explore, learn, and experience the world firsthand.

Deeply caring and compassionate, Amy believed in the possibility of a more peaceful world. She sincerely wished for world peace and carried that hope with her throughout her life. Her optimism, kindness, and genuine care for others left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Amy will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Glenn; her niece, Jamie; and her nephews, Alan, Brandon, Brian, and Micheal, along with great nieces and nephews, extended family, friends, and the many people whose lives she touched.

Though she is no longer with us, Amy’s adventurous spirit, positivity, kindness, and hope for a peaceful world will continue to live on in those who knew and loved her.
