Andrew Joseph Koval, III, was born on December 2, 1938, in Joliet, Illinois. He transitioned from this world on December 15, 2025, at 8:47 pm, at GWU Hospital in Washington, DC, a place where he spent his final moments surrounded by the love of family and close friends.

Andy lived an extraordinary life characterized by a spirit of adventure and a deep commitment to making the world a better place. His career took him around the globe, where he pioneered innovative solutions to social challenges, from Morocco and Algeria to the Philippines, and from Bangladesh to Egypt, and further. Andy dedicated himself to development work with Catholic Relief Services and later, through medical humanitarian efforts within his own social enterprise, MedPharm. His passion for helping others inspired countless individuals in various corners of the world. His warmth, and kindness enveloped those fortunate enough to know him.

An eternal optimist, Andy had a contagious zest for life and its potential. He firmly believed in the silver linings that life presented, famously singing "I did it my way" on his last day, demonstrating his unwavering determination to live life on his own terms. He took immense pride in his family, and is survived by his beloved daughter, Nedjma Koval, cherished grandchildren, Kiyan Saifi and Teymour Saifi, and estranged wife Cherifa Koval. His heart remained eternally connected to them, relishing the role of Granddaddy Andy. Andy now joins those who have passed before him, including his daughter, Natacha Ferial Koval, his mother, Rosalie Cirhan Koval; his father, Andrew Joseph Koval II; and his brother, Robert Koval.

He will be deeply missed. May God rest his soul.
