Andrew Eric Long, Jr., affectionately known as “Popeye,” was born on November 1, 1980, in Washington, D.C. and passed away on February 20, 2026, in Arlington, Virginia. He attended Oxon Hill High School in Oxon Hill, Maryland, where he earned his high school diploma, a milestone that he took great pride in throughout his life.

Andrew dedicated much of his professional life to serving as a valued employee at Safeway and Giant Food, where he demonstrated an unwavering commitment to his work and those he served. Throughout his career, he was known for his kindness, respectfulness, and generosity, embodying the essence of a loving provider for his family.

A passionate family man, Andrew cherished spending quality time with his loved ones, particularly during the holidays. He was a caring individual whose love knew no bounds, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer the shirt off his back to anyone in need. His warm personality and welcoming nature created lasting memories for all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Andrew’s interests included bike riding, drawing, and gaming, pursuits that reflected his creative spirit and zest for life. As a devoted father, he is survived by his beloved daughter, Ayianna Fulford, and his precious granddaughter, Harmony Nickens. He is also mourned by his mother, Gloria Mason; brother, Angelo Long; sister, Calisha Vaughn and Tamika Saunders; cousins, Keisha A. Long and a host of others; as well as his nieces Aalajah, Aaliyah, nephews DeAngelo, Deandre, Demahri, Demoni, Samir Marshman's uncle, aunts, and sisters-in-law Shanika Marshman. Close friends Kenya Cuthbertson and Brenda Covington also hold a special place in his memory.

Andrew's passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who loved him. While he may be gone from this world, his spirit remains eternally present in the memories shared and the love that endures. His family looks forward to carrying forward his legacy of kindness and compassion, ensuring that his impact will forever be felt.
