BARBARA (BOWMAN) BILAS, 91, of Chantilly, Virginia passed away Tuesday evening, August 25, 2026 . The daughter of the late Robert and Beatrice Bowman, she was born August 4, 1935 in Youngstown, Ohio. She worked for Ohio Bell Telephone in the business office. On June 15, 1957 she married William Bilas and they lived together in North Olmsted and Westlake, Ohio for over 50 years. After Will’s passing in 2014, she relocated to Chantilly, VA in 2018. She worked for many years with the North Olmsted School System before retiring. Barb was a member of North Olmsted United Methodist Church for over 45 years serving on the Finance Committee, as a Youth Group Leader and helping with other volunteer activities. Barb loved to garden and spent great time not only in her own garden, but also with the garden club in her town. Another passion she had was cross stitching beautiful pieces of art that she often shared with others. She was an avid reader of mysteries and in the evenings could often be found doing crossword puzzles with Will. Barbara is survived by her two sons Kurt (Jody) and Roger and five grandchildren Alexander, Scott, Emily, Anna and Gregory. Of the two children, Barbara is survived by her brother Bruce Bowman. The Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 19 at 11:00 am at North Olmsted United Methodist Church, 4600 Dover Center Rd., North Olmsted, where family and friends will gather for a celebration of life. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to North Olmsted United Methodist Church.
