Barbara Jean Williams, affectionately known as "Bobby," passed away on June 12, 2026, at the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center in Largo, Maryland. Born on September 15, 1950, in Arnaudville, Louisiana, Barbara’s life was a tapestry woven with love, resilience, and boundless devotion to her family and community.

Barbara’s journey was marked by a steadfast commitment to education and service. She earned her high school diploma from Cecilia High School in 1968, demonstrating early on a dedication to learning that would shape her future. Pursuing her calling in nursing, she attended Job Corps for Advanced Nursing, a path that led her in 1975 to New Orleans, Louisiana. There, she embraced a vital role in the labor and delivery ward at Baptist Hospital, where her nurturing spirit and medical skill brought comfort and joy to countless families welcoming new life.

Her radiant personality illuminated every sphere she touched. Barbara was a phenomenal woman — a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother. She was a God-fearing woman who lived her life according to the word of God, embodying kindness, warmth, and an unwavering sense of humor. Known for her remarkable ability to uplift those around her with a simple smile and wise words, she was a beacon of strength, compassion, and resilience. To know Barbara was, truly, to love her; she made the world around her better simply by being present.

Family was the cornerstone of Barbara’s existence. She found immense joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren, particularly relishing the tradition of Friday Family Fun Nights filled with board and card games, and moments of Motown and Soul music dancing in the living room. Her creativity flourished in cooking and baking—she was especially renowned for her extraordinary cheesecakes, each crafted with love and care. Her hobbies extended to singing, dancing, sewing, and watching her favorite criminal shows during peaceful evenings. Quiet moments on the balcony with her grandson Dorian, sharing the serenity of a sunset, reflected the depth of her appreciation for life’s simplest treasures.

Barbara’s legacy is carried forward by those who loved her most. She is survived by her ex-husband, Vincent Williams; her four devoted children, Mark Singleton (his wife Tracey), Katice Williams, Aron Williams, Deron Williams (his wife Delaney); and her fifteen beloved grandchildren. She also leaves behind three sisters, Rilma Patt, Leola Riser (her husband Joe), and Mary Rossyion (née Patt); and two brothers, Warren Patt (his wife Gertrude), Roland Patt Sr., and a host of nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Joseph Franklin and Helen Phillips Patt; her three sisters, Gertrude Trahan (née Patt), Shirley Mae Patt, and Louella Patt; and six brothers, Howard Patt, Richard Patt, Lionel Patt, Michael Patt, McLean Patt, and Ronald Patt Sr.

Barbara Jean Williams’s life was a testament to love, faith, and joy. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who were graced by her presence, a shining example of a life beautifully lived.
