Bernadette Carol Golinowski

Bernadette C. Golinowski died peacefully at her home in Springfield, VA, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 after a long battle with multiple myeloma which transitioned into secondary plasma cell leukemia, a very aggressive cancer. 

She was surrounded by her siblings, Regina (Dave), Ramona, Richard (Karen) and Loretta. Bernadette was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 17, 1959 to Karol and Catherine Golinowski. 

Bernadette graduated in 1981 from Villanova University with a degree in Political Science. She went on to Law School at George Mason University and graduated with a law degree in 1984. Bernadette was a licensed lawyer for 40 years.

She passed the Bar in 1985 and soon after, was hired by a local law firm. She then started her own firm with a classmate from law school, Jeanine Colarusso. The firm of Golinowski and Colarusso was founded in 1996 and is still in operation. Bernadette also served as a Virginia Magistrate in District 18/City of Alexandria for over 20 years, from 1995 to 2016.

Along with her siblings, Bernadette is survived by her niece Megan (Daniel), nephews Richie (Caroline) and Michael, grand niece Lucy, and grand nephews Emmet and Owen, all children of Richie and Caroline. Additionally she is survived by her Aunt Lucy, Aunt Jane and Uncle Frank and countless cousins.

Bernadette was a big baseball fan; the Washington Nationals was her favorite team. She enjoyed trips to the beach and cherished the time spent with family eating crabs. She was an avid reader of mysteries and was always in the middle of a book. She loved to cook and bake and tried countless recipes for the benefit of her siblings. Bernadette also enjoyed working in the garden, growing vegetables, flowers and herbs. Bernadette loved her family and was devoted to all.

Bernadette's ashes will be interred on October 4 at the Shrine of our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown, Pennsylvania where her parents, sister Caroline and other family members are buried.
