Beverly Morris Armstrong, 73, passed away on May 22, 2026 in Alexandria, VA, after a long illness. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, James Alan Armstrong, two daughters, Katherine Elizabeth and Rosa Nioma, and two sisters and their spouses, Jeannie and husband Matt Wilcox and Robin Morris and husband Darrin Clawson.

Beverly received her BA from the University of Chicago. She earned an MS in Accountancy from DePaul University and became a CPA specializing in finance and administration in nonprofit organizations. Early in her career she was the COO for a consortium of urban planning and environmental organizations in Chicago, and then she became the Controller of the American Bar Association. Subsequently her career took on an international focus: she was the CFO of Pathfinder International, International Relief and Development, and the Atlantic Council. She also served on the Boards of Directors of the Grameen Foundation and Relief International.

Among Beverly's most gratifying personal achievements was her volunteer service with the Hyde Park/Kenwood Community Food Pantry in Chicago, which she founded when she was 28 years old and directed for nearly fifteen years. She received the Jefferson Award for Community Service in 1983 in recognition of her efforts.  After she became a Christian at the age of 18, Beverly took an active role in church life and ministry. She served as a deacon at Cornell Baptist Church in Chicago and more recently was the treasurer of Arlington Temple United Methodist Church in Arlington, VA.
