Beverly Ann Logan, age 97, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026 at Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia. Beverly was born on January 21, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to Victor Barnett and Anna Cunat. Beverly and her brother Vic grew up going to school in Chicago, eventually moving to rural Braidwood, Illinois.

After World War II, at the age of 19, Beverly met the love of her life, Charles Logan, a Marine combat veteran, in Chicago. They pledged their hearts to each other on their first date and were married April 9, 1949. They would go on to raise four children, Kathleen, Stephen, Michael and Robert. In 1951 while Charlie served in the Korean War, Beverly's courage and resiliency allowed her to raise her newborn Kathy herself even with her concern for Charles. Her motherly instincts and sound judgment helped ground and support all of their children in later years, while Charles provided fatherly guidance and attended law school and established a successful legal career. Beverly was a great mother, established sound and lasting friendships, and with Charles worked together in a loving union and a close-knit family.

Beverly, Charles and the family moved multiple times, living in Louisiana, Maryland, Connecticut and Virginia. In 1967 the Logan Family returned to the Chicago area where Bev's extended family still resided, settling outside of Chicago in Wheaton, Illinois. Kathy stayed in Richmond, Virginia and started a family but stayed close to her mother, and the younger Logan children grew up under Beverly's loving but watchful eye up through the 1980s. They fondly remember traveling throughout the Western states and other parts of the country enjoying Beverly’s and Charles' love of new experiences.

Once all her children had left the house as adults, Beverly refocused her interests and attained a degree as a Registered Nurse. She became a teacher of convalescent care and was beloved by faculty and students alike. Beverly and Charlie, driven by Charlie’s love of history and Beverly’s love of adventure, would travel the world with trips including Egypt, Eastern Europe and Greece.

Beverly and Charles purchased a condo in Cocoa Beach Florida that became a treasured oceanside getaway for Beverly and the entire family. Sadly, Charlie Logan passed away August 9, 1993, but Beverly would continue teaching and loving the time she spent with her expanding array of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, establishing herself as the wise and beloved matriarch of the Logan family. In 2017, Beverly sold the longtime family home in Wheaton, Illinois to share a home with her daughter Kathy in Arlington, Virginia. The two would devote the next nearly 10 years as the familial anchors of the family, splitting their time between Virginia and Cocoa Beach. Looking out at the Atlantic Ocean from the condo balcony and listening to the waves was one of Beverly’s favorite activities.

Beverly was warm, elegant, sophisticated yet hands-on, and above all young at heart. Her emphasis on love of family, her welcoming nature, and the practical life lessons she imparted have shaped and enriched the lives of all of her children and their families. She left a mark and legacy that will always be remembered and cherished.

In addition to her husband Charles, Beverly was predeceased by her daughter Kathy Matusiak and brother Victor Barnett. Beverly is survived by her three sons, Stephen Logan (Betty) of Moyock, North Carolina, Michael Logan (Sally) of Kensington, California, and Robert Logan (Jennifer) of Vienna, Virginia; her Niece Sandy Mueller (Russ) of Chicago, Illinois; her grandchildren, Heather Barksdale (Heather), Erin King, Brittany Goldsmith (Joshua), Amber Logan, Haley Logan, Katherine Logan, Timothy Logan, David Logan, Christopher Logan, and Matthew Logan; and great grandchildren, Charlie Barksdale, Teddy Barksdale, Jackson King, Carter King, Ryan King, and Dylan King.

A private funeral service to celebrate Beverly’s life and legacy will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the home of Robert and Jennifer Logan. The family plans to hold an additional service at Arlington National Cemetery some time in 2027 where Beverly will join her husband Charles at the Cemetery’s Columbarium.
