Bobby Leroy
Chapman
Nov 1946 — Sep 2026
Charles town, WV
Bobby Chapman was born in November 1946 in rural Virginia. Though he grew up in a nontraditional environment, he found his own way through life and overcame many obstacles. Through it all, he carried a strength and perspective that helped him keep moving forward.
During his work as a hospital technician, Bobby learned the importance of caring for others and bringing comfort to people during difficult times. Bobby was a nonjudgmental listener and a confidant to many. He was always willing to lend an ear, offer encouragement, and remind others that there was still reason to have hope. With a heart rooted in togetherness and compassion, he had a special way of making people feel seen and heard.
Throughout his more than decade-long battle with cancer, he continued to show compassion to others walking similar paths.
Even while fighting his own battle, Bobby encouraged those he met during treatment and became a source of hope for many. He defied expectations throughout his life and fought long and hard until the end. His life was not defined by his struggles, but by his ability to use his experiences to connect with, comfort, and encourage others.
He leaves to cherish his memory his brother, He is survived by his brother, Willy Coates; partner, Kathy Titus; his children, Joann, Renee, Bobby, Bryant, Kisha, Tyis, and Lilith; sons-in-law Thomas and Michael; Grandchildren Matthew, Tameka, Sequan, Princess, Titus, Sterling, Anthony, Kennedi Shane, Jahlil, Reesy, Terrinay, Deven, Bryanna, Lily, Amari, and Thomas; his many great-grandchildren; and the many family members and friends whose lives he touched.
Bobby's presence, wisdom, humor, and love will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
In keeping with Bobby’s wishes, there will be no traditional wake or funeral. Instead, his family and friends will honor him with a celebration of life.
