Furthering her academic pursuits, she graduated with a Master’s degree from Stony Brook University in 1974. Over the years, she taught High School English in both New York and Maryland, where her passion for literature and her commitment to her students left an indelible mark.

Carmen married her husband Dick in 1951 raising their 4 children in a warm and loving home. Retiring with her husband to Pinehurst, North Carolina, she was member of the Pinehurst Country Club, the Village Chapel, and an avid bridge player.

Her legacy continues through her six grandchildren: Matt, Lorraine, Makenzie, Claire, Noah, and Paige, and ten great-grandchildren who will forever remember her warmth and guidance.
