Carol Lynn Bigwood, formerly Carol Lynn Matthews, was born on January 2, 1948, in New York. She passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024 in Arlington, Virginia, leaving behind a legacy of love and joy.
Carol lived life to the fullest, embodying the essence of a loyal friend, a loving grandmother, and a vibrant spirit that brightened the lives of those around her. Her laugh and infectious enthusiasm for life will be deeply missed.
A passionate individual, Carol found joy in various hobbies including dancing, baking, crocheting, completing crossword puzzles and spending time with friends. She had a love for traveling and cherished her time walking along the beach. Her generous heart was evident in her dedication to volunteering, always eager to lend a helping hand to others. Most importantly, Carol cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren, nurturing their growth and creativity with her boundless love.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Kelly, and her beloved son, Tim, along with her loving daughter-in-law, Connie. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Raphaela, Tabitha, Merrick, Zachary and Benjamin who were the light of her life. Carol also leaves behind her dear brother, George and many nieces and nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, and three sisters, who welcomed her into eternal rest. As we remember Carol, we celebrate her extraordinary life, her kindness, and the wonderful memories she leaves behind. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
