Christine Cecilia Janow, whose radiant warmth and boundless spirit touched all who knew her, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026, in Reston, VA. Born on June 23, 1941, Christine lived a life rich in meaning, anchored by compassion, dedication, and an unwavering optimism.

Chris, from the earliest days, distinguished herself not only by her keen intelligence but by a sense of adventure and spirit, a desire to impact her world, with equality and compassion (and a healthy dose of organization)—a trait she carried throughout her life. It was this innate kindness that drew people to her, forging connections that lasted a lifetime.

Christine’s life was a tapestry woven with love and resilience, a reflection of the devotion she and her beloved husband, Ed Janow, shared until his passing before her. Their partnership was a testament to enduring affection and unshakeable support, echoing through the lives of their children and loved ones today.

She is survived by her sons, Kevin Mackey and Mike Janow, and daughter Mary Beth Duncan, each of whom carry forward her legacy of laughter, gentle guidance, and steadfast care. Siblings John McGill and Anne Armstrong, along with their spouses Gayle McGill and Ross Armstrong, and her brother, Eddie McGill with his wife Mira, remain as living pillars in the family Christine so dearly cherished.
