IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Christine
Karbett
December 30, 1947 – December 8, 2025
Christine Karbett, 77, of Owings, Maryland, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025, at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 30, 1947, in Washington, DC, she was the cherished daughter of Sam and Lee Baxter.
Christine lived a life defined by a deep devotion to family. She shared over five decades of unwavering love with her husband, Raymond G. Karbett, Jr., whom she met at school in Forestville, MD. Together, they built a loving home for their three children. Christine never knew a stranger, and their home was always open to friends, who were treated like family. Christine loved trips to the beach and holidays with her family and friends. Christine loved decorating for Christmas, and her Christmas houses and trains were often up for much of the year, bringing joy to all who visited. After Raymond's passing in 2020, Christine carried his memory with grace, often sharing stories of their adventures and the laughter they brought to all who knew them.
Christine was self-employed as a beautician, running her own cozy shop from her home, where she personally tended to each client with her gentle touch and kind spirit, uplifting countless lives. She particularly enjoyed serving the elderly and shut-ins, transforming routine visits into moments of connection, laughter, and care that lingered long after.
She took immense pride in her role as "MeMaw" to her grandchildren, sharing her lifelong love of movies, especially Disney movies. Her only granddaughter is following in her footsteps with her love of The Grinch.
She is survived by her devoted children: Greg Karbett (Kristina), Sharon Saylor (Michael), and Katherine Ortenzo; her four cherished grandchildren, Michael and Brady Collins, and Joshua and Jillian Karbett, her loving in-laws, cousins and dear friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Raymond G. Karbett, Jr., and her parents, Sam and Lee Baxter.
Christine's legacy endures in the countless ways she nurtured those around her—through her gentle wisdom, infectious smile, and the unbreakable bonds she forged.
Per Christine’s wishes, there will be no scheduled celebration of life, but please think of her fondly when you see a hummingbird or maybe even The Grinch.
She will be forever loved, missed, and remembered
