Christopher Anthony
Barson
Nov 7, 1964 — Aug 29, 2026
Alexandria, Virginia
Christopher Anthony Barson (61), of Alexandria, VA, beloved son, brother, stepson, cousin and friend to many, left this Earth to join his adored mother on 8/29/2026. A 1986 graduate of Northern Michigan University and the Leelanau School, he was a talented interior designer whose commercial and residential projects dot the greater Washington, D.C. area. His credits include designing the first green building in the D.C. area, as well as the interiors of several high-end restaurants. His work has been published in the New York Times, Washington Times, Washington Sources Magazine, Home and Design Magazine, and Washington Life Magazine. He stared in a pilot for a series on the Fine Living Network, “Design Freak, the Christopher Barson Project,” which can be seen on YouTube. His condominium in Alexandria is fabulous. Originally from Detroit, he moved to Northern Virginia in the early 1980’s where he established his design practice. Close friends describe him as a generous spirit, and a true character with a wicked sense of humor. He is survived by brother Michael, sister Mary, nephew Michael Jr, his stepfather Dean Hahnenberg, and by friends too numerous to count.
