Christopher ‘Kit’ Britton died peacefully 9/27/2024 in Falls Church, VA after being surrounded by his children, family members, and friends following a stroke. He was born 12/27/1941 in Tomkins Cove, NY, the elder of a brother, Bruce Britton (Kerry) and a sister, Pamela White (Steve), the children of Hugh and Christine Britton. He graduated from Clarkstown High School and Princeton University, spent two years in the Peace Corps in the Philippines, and studied in a graduate program in. Economics at American University. After spending 19 years in City Planning for the DC Government, he became a successful realtor in No. Va. Kit was a great reader, an active genealogist, a community activist, a writer of poetry, and in his retirement years, dedicated to his work as a naturalist with the Arlington Regional Master Naturalists (ARMN). 

His first marriage to Bonnie Britton produced two children, Matthew (Downapha) and Jessica, and ended in divorce. In 2001, he married Anne McKnight who brought three step-children to the marriage, Molly Snyder (Brad), David McKnight (Felice), and Sidney McKnight (Candriece). Kit is survived by 11 grandchildren, Araya and Alexander Britton, Maxwell, Adam, Madeleine, Grace, Abraham, Talmage, and Sterling McKnight, Abby Lynch, and Jack Snyder.
