Daryl was a devoted family man and dedicated public servant.  He served in the federal government for over 34 years including at the National Institutes of Health and the Export Import Bank of the US.  During this time he also served in the Air National Guard.  He married the love of his life, Stacey in 1988 who was introduced to him by his childhood friend, John Faith.  Daryl and Stacey had two sons, Robert and Timothy fulfilling Daryl’s life long desire to be a dad.  He adored his sons and retired early to raise them, driving them to the bus stop, making lunches, attending years of sports’ practices and caring for the many pets his wife and sons wanted over the years.  He loved his grandchildren, Ben and Hazel.  Daryl was protective and caring towards his mother, Mildred, and his sisters, twin, Caryl and little sister, Terry.  Daryl was an avid landscaper and was happiest in the summer working outside.  He loved watching baseball and the Washington Commanders.  Timothy shared Daryl’s love of sports.   Timothy in the first grade decided Brett Favre was his hero.  Daryl and Tim traveled twice to Green Bay and once to North Carolina to watch Brett play.  This was in addition to watching the Commanders on Sunday and playing golf together as Tim grew up.

Daryl’s greatest wish as he battled prostate cancer the last 8 years was for happiness and peace for Stacey, Timothy, Robert and Chelsea, Ben and Hazel, Caryl and Nolden, Terry and his nephews and nieces, especially Christopher and Timmy.  His wife and son, Timothy, cared for Daryl in home hospice when Daryl was bedridden the last 8 months of his life.  For the previous seven years they stayed by his side every day.  They took Daryl to all his appointments, and helped him as the side effects of the meds took a ever deepening toll on his body.  Robert, Chelsea and the children tried to visit every other weekend. Terry traveled from Winchester as often as she could to help and visit.  This was a hard, frustrating, painful time for him, but he passed away at home with his family beside him as he wanted. The world has lost a good man.
