David Brian Grove, known as Dave to many family and friends, passed away peacefully at his home in Harper's Ferry, West Virginia, on September 15, 2026, at the age of 79.

Born on November 18, 1946, in Cumberland, Maryland, he was the son of Theodore Lawrence Grove and Agnes Gertrude Lopp and the youngest of five siblings: Lawrence Grove Jr., Eleanor Virginia Grove, Victor Emory Grove, and Betty Cecil Grove.

Dave had four children: Jason Tobias Stotler, Brian David Grove, Marcus William Grove, and Christina Marie Grove, and is survived by Marcus, Christina, and five grandchildren.

Dave was a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design engineer by trade and an entrepreneur at heart. Throughout his life, he explored many business ventures, and in his later years, he turned his experience and curiosity toward a home inspection business.

He was also a builder and creator. One of Dave's lifelong dreams was to own a cabin in the woods of West Virginia. In his thirties, he and his former wife, Sandra, made that dream a reality, spending weekends building a cabin together. The cabin became a treasured place for Dave, one that held many memories and remained special to him for many years. He later transitioned to a more traditional home, one with the same cabin aesthetic, where he added a beautiful three-level pond that sheltered bullfrogs and foot-long goldfish. He loved listening to the trickling water. The pond was more than a project; it was something he took great pride in and enjoyed for many years.

Dave found happiness in the simple things and in the projects he could make his own. He enjoyed visiting local outdoor flea markets and spent time crafting Native American-inspired jewelry and artifacts. He was a devoted Washington Redskins fan, and you could occasionally feel the house shake when the team scored a touchdown.

Dave was a quiet man of few words, but those who knew him well also knew his playful side. He could be an occasional prankster and had a wonderful belly laugh. He expressed himself in his own way, often through the things he built and the food he prepared. He made the most delicious steaks and herb spaghetti, and his chili recipe has become a family favorite that continues to be enjoyed by multiple generations. Through those recipes and memories, a part of Dave will continue to find its way into family gatherings for years to come.

His quiet presence, unexpected humor, love of the outdoors, and the many things he created will be remembered by those who knew and loved him.

Details regarding a celebration of life are still being planned. The family welcomes memorial donations to help support current and future services - donations can be made here. Additional information will be shared as arrangements are finalized.
