David "Andrew" Hedges passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025 after a long battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife, Lisa Marie Romano; his mother, Goldie Tolbert; his sister, Angelicia Martin (Jermaine); his nephew, Phresh; his niece, Mercier; his best friend, Tartufo the English bulldog; and many family members and beloved friends. Andrew also had a meaningful, lifelong relationship with his late mentor, Drexel "Drex" Davis Jr., whom he was paired with through the Big Brothers program as a native of Frankfort, Kentucky.
A graduate of Vanderbilt University and George Washington University for his MBA, Andrew became a Chief Principal Engineer in the computer software and government consulting industries. He created and led an EdTech startup business, and helped develop additional new initiatives as a Director of Innovation. In his spare time, he enjoyed numerous interests, including research on machine learning and FinTech; developing algorithms for fantasy football and basketball brackets; traveling; viewing art exhibits and films; hosting themed events; and dining with friends and loved ones.
Celebration of Life events will be held on Thursday, June 26 at the Lakeview Park pavilion in Frankfort, Kentucky, and on Saturday, July 19 in Arlington, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, contributions for Andrew's memories may be made to Hope Connections or through contributions to adopting a bench at his favorite park, the Bon Air Rose Garden, where he frequently walked with Tartufo.
