David Michael Shafer

The Shafer Family sadly announces the passing of David M. Shafer. David passed on the morning of July 24th, . David was preceded in death by his parents Nancy B Shafer and James A Shafer and Burel R Roberts, brother Richard Shafer and sister Leslie Shafer. 

David leaves behind daughters Anne Marie Bierlein, April Tomasello, and Stephanie Baumker. Sisters Patricia Rhea Roberts and Mary Ann Musser, brothers James and Brian Shafer, and several loved grandchildren nieces and nephews cousins and many others. 

David's chosen profession In life was as a mechanic. Those who loved him knew he loved his work. His love of fixing things seeped into his personal life. During his final days fighting cancer, he would often joke with visitors and family in an attempt to ease or fix their pain. David's brother Brian shared a story of David's recent attempt to ease his family's pain while he was bravely carrying his own. 

 “I went to visit David shortly before his passing. I said Hello David…” upon entering the room. David responded with… “The nurses lost my wallet and my ID… from now on you have to call me Dav” It took a second.. but I got it. THAT'S how I choose to remember my brother. Always happy under almost any circumstances. 

 David was ALWAYS trying to make things better by making people feel better. In sharing Pictures over the past week… We noticed a constant in almost every picture. He was always smiling. Whether fixing engines or other people's moods.. David always gave his all. While he fought till his very last breath before passing… We find grace knowing his very next breath was in the presence of our heavenly father, embraced with the gift of everlasting life. 

God promised us… 

“I go to prepare a place for you…” 

We’re sure he was talking to David when he promised this. The family appreciates your love and support
