Debora Lynn Wilson, née Costello, born on November 21, 1958, in Alexandria, peacefully passed away on April 26, 2026, at her home in Woodbridge, VA. Her life was marked by a steadfast dedication to both her career and her family, leaving behind a legacy of love, commitment, and quiet accomplishment.

Debora began her professional journey in 1977 when she entered the United States Civil Service as a Stenographer and Typist. Her aptitude and dedication quickly became apparent, and by 1979, she had accepted a position with the esteemed United States Library of Congress as a US Copyright Cataloging Technician Serial Recorder. Her work ethic and skill did not go unnoticed; in 1980 and 1981, she received commendations for her outstanding performance from both the Team Leader of the Audiovisual Section Copyright Cataloging Division and the Copyright Office Chairperson.

From 1982 to 1994, Debora made the conscious choice to focus on her role as a homemaker, dedicating her time and energy to raising her three sons. This period of nurturing was one of profound importance to her, instilling strong values and a foundation of support for her children. In 1994, she embraced reentering the workforce, initially working as a receptionist for a printing company until 1997. That year marked the beginning of a long and valued tenure with Kohl’s Department Store, where she contributed her talents across four different store locations, up until 2024.

Debora’s proudest accomplishments were deeply personal and centered around her family. She took immense pride in watching her three sons mature into admirable men, each forging individual paths through careers, graduate school, and military service. Her pride in who they became was a testament to her guidance and unwavering support.

Beyond her professional and family life, Debora found joy in the serene beauty of nature. She loved spending time at the beach, where she delighted in observing “her dolphins.” She also cherished moments in her backyard, quietly watching the hummingbirds that feasted at her feeders, a simple pleasure that brought her peace and contentment.

She is survived by her beloved mother, Shirley Costello; brother, Randy Costello; her partner, Phillip Vaden; her three sons, Michael, Matthew, and Troy Wilson; and her treasured granddaughters, Jennifer and Samantha Wilson. They will hold dearly the memories of her warmth, strength, and enduring love.

Debora was preceded in death by her father, Robert Costello, and her sister, Karen Gagnon. Their memories remain cherished and are fondly remembered by those who knew her.

In reflecting on Debora Lynn Wilson’s life, we honor a woman of dedication, compassion, and quiet resilience—a cherished mother, devoted partner, and a friend to many. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and all whose lives she touched.
