Deborah Susan Greenberg, 60, died on June 25th, 2026 at her home in Herndon, Virginia.

Debby was born in New York City to Norman Sydney Greenberg and Sandra Malkin Greenberg on August 29, 1965. Raised in Parsippany, New Jersey, the third of five children, she developed a strong work ethic alongside a natural aptitude for sports, academics, and language. After graduating from Parsippany High School in 1983, she studied health policy at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School, graduating cum laude in 1987. Despite her 5’ 2” stature, she played point guard on the Princeton women’s basketball team. In 1992, she earned a Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins University.

Debby worked in healthcare administration and healthcare-related IT for more than three decades. She felt a deep sense of connection with her Jewish identity and Israel, where she lived for two years. She found joy in going on hikes, gardening, perusing craft fairs and farmers’ markets, and exploring new places, most recently El Salvador. A lifelong learner, she loved attending lectures and concerts, and read on a wide variety of topics. She treasured simple pleasures – visiting with family, teaching children to grow vegetables and play sports, cooking and sharing a meal, and enjoying an afternoon nap in her hammock.

Debby is survived by her three sisters: Becky (John) Jackson of Rochester, MN, Jane (John) Kostick of Medford, MA, and Ellen (Enrique) Zuniga of Jamaica Plain, MA; four nephews and two nieces. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Eric Greenberg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the New Israel Fund (nif.org) and American Friends of Magen David Adom (afmda.org).

Debby’s memorial service will be held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 1668 Beacon St, Brookline, MA, at 9:30 am on Friday, July 3, 2026. Burial will follow at Baker Street Jewish Cemetery (776 Baker St West Roxbury, MA).
