June 15, 1951 – March 7, 2026
Donald Alfred Slatt, age 74, passsed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, March 7th, 2026, at home with his family in Arlington, VA.
Born in Hornell on June 15th, 1951 he was the son of the late George and Ruth (Weber) Slatt.
A long-time resident of Hornell, Don was a proud graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1970. After many years of working various jobs after high school, Don went to college at the age of 46, earning his Associate's Degree in Computer Information Systems from Alfred State College. He leveraged that degree into a career in Information Technology until his retirement in 2013.
Don was an active member of several United Methodist Churches, including Park United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Church of Hornell, and Mount Olivet United Methodist Church in Arlington, VA.
Don loved to perform and was active in choirs and theater throughout his life, from high school performances at Hornell High School to community theater performances with the Hornell Rotary Club, the Town Theatre of Short Tract, the Dansville Players, and the Keuka Lake Players, to name a few.
Don was a life-long railfan and model railroader; he appreciated good food, good wine, and good company. He was the man who could make friends without appearing to try and who seemed to know everyone.
