Donna Marie Hobbs, 61, of Manassas, Virginia, passed away on March 20, 2026, after a courageous battle with breast and lung cancer. She passed peacefully in Manassas with her loving partner of 18 years, Doug, by her side.

Donna was born on February 7, 1965, in Emporia, Virginia. She was the youngest of six children and was born deaf. Her older sister, six years her senior, adored Donna and cared for her deeply in her early years. In recent years, she reconnected with several of her siblings, Connie, Wayne, and Melvin, and cherished those connections. Donna later attended the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind (VSDB) in Staunton, where she built lifelong friendships. Her classmates became like family, and she treasured those connections throughout her life. The Deaf community was central to Donna’s life; it was her source of connection, belonging, and lifelong friendship. Donna loved traveling, especially taking road trips throughout Virginia. She had a deep appreciation for history and often visited historical sites, sharing photos of markers and landmarks with family and friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her son, Jeremy Tinnell; her mother, Rachel Geneva (Perry) Hobbs; her father, Willie James Hobbs, Jr.; her brothers, James Raymond Hobbs and Derwin Perry Hobbs; her niece, Lesley Nicole Coleman; her nephew Derrick Hobbs; and her grandparents, great-grandparents, and extended family members.

She is lovingly remembered by her partner, Doug Shriver; her siblings Melvin Hobbs of Yale, Virginia, Connie S. Hobbs of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Wayne Hobbs of Yale, Virginia; and many dear friends she made over the years, especially within the Deaf community.
