Doris Jean Mortimer Jensen, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away in Loudoun, Virginia. March 26, 2026, at the age of 83.

Doris was born and raised in Washington, D.C. She and Conrad were married for 57 years, and her early years were dedicated to raising their three children: Jon, Bill, and Roberta. Once her children were grown, Doris returned to school to pursue a career in nursing. She worked for many years as a nurse and case coordinator, roles that drew on her natural diligence and her steady way of looking out for the people in her care. She was a woman of strong convictions who stayed closely informed about the world and always had a firm point of view on the events of the day.

She was at her happiest in the Shenandoah Valley at the family’s mountain getaway. In Fort Valley, Doris was the one who kept the mountain houses going. She was always busy with something and made sure the family and the pets were looked after. She wasn't one for sitting still, so if you were visiting, she’d usually find a little job for you to help with—it was just her way of taking care of the place and keeping everyone together.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad, her parents, and her sister, Denise. She is survived by her children: Jon; Bill and his wife Kim; and Roberta. She was a proud grandmother to David, Caity, Michael, Melanie, Max, and Sydney.
