Dotty Erle Chain


Dotty Erle Chain lived from November 15, 1929 to June 20, 2026, died at her apartment as she requested.


She doted on her girls, Linda and Betty, and loved her family, close and far. She volunteered among activities: Sunday School teaching (Linda's 5th grade), Girls Scout leader (Betty's troop), acolytes coach, worked on the church payroll, worked in the church nursery, taught English as a Second Language, participating in the Prayer Shawl knitters and the circles of her churches.


Dotty Erle served in several jobs, lastly as a payroll clerk for RJM-McQueen in Collins, MS, when she retired at 82 to move close to her daughter in Manassas, VA.


Dotty Erle was predeceased by her husband, Fledell Chain, her daughter, Elizabeth Erle Howard, and her brother, M. W. Kirkpatrick, Jr.


Survivors including her daughter Mrs. Bill (Linda) Lacy of Manassas, VA, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.


Memorial service are not finalized.

In lieu of flowers, she would have appreciated a donation to Manassas Presbyterian Church or Collins Methodist Church or any charity of your choice.
