Dorothy “Dottie” Peters, 96, of Arlington, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Sunrise Senior Living Center in Falls Church.
Born on August 22, 1929, in Sagola Township, Michigan, Dottie was the youngest of seven children of Charles and Clara Price. She graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1946.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 74 years, Edward; her children David, Jodi, Jay, and Laura; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, John.
A devoted Catholic and longtime member of St. Ann Church in Arlington, Dottie believed deeply in the power of prayer. She prayed faithfully for her family, friends, and loved ones throughout her life.
Dottie dedicated many years to the Arlington School System, serving as a food service manager where her kindness, and commitment touched countless lives.
Edward’s career in the State Department Foreign Service took the family around the world—from Tripoli, Libya (where Jay and Laura were born), to Bonn, Germany; then back to Arlington for a decade; followed by postings in Nairobi, Kenya, and Manila, Philippines. These experiences were both culturally enriching and occasionally challenging; Dottie never failed to rise to the challenge.
She loved to laugh and be with family and always enjoyed a good joke. Everyone wanted to make her laugh. She was a loving mom and will be missed. May she rest in peace.
