Douglas Eastman Southerland

Douglas Eastman Southerland, beloved brother and esteemed retiree, passed away on January 13, 2025, in Falls Church, Virginia, at the age of 81. He was born on November 21, 1943, in Hopewell, Virginia, to the late Luther and Margaret Southerland.

A proud veteran of the workforce, Douglas dedicated much of his professional life to the Internal Revenue Service, where he served with distinction as a Supervisory Computer Specialist. His dedication to his career and commitment to excellence left a lasting impact on those who had the pleasure of working alongside him.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Margaret Southerland, as well as his brothers John Southerland and Jerry Southerland, and infant brothers, David and Gene Southerland. He is survived by his sister, Laura Eads.

Throughout his life, Douglas exemplified kindness and integrity, traits that will be remembered by all who knew him. His legacy continues through the love shared with his family and the friends he made over the years.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Though Doug is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in our hearts.  Please join us in raising a glass to his memory and toast to a great friend.
