Elizabeth A. Way (Bea) was born in Chester, PA and spent her youth in Wilmington, DE. Bea was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority, serving in various executive positions, including President of the ODU Chapter. Her professional life included management positions with the City of Alexandria and Fairfax County, VA before embarking on a career with the Federal Government. Bea retired in 2023 with more than 20 years of distinguished service in the Department of Labor (OSHA & MSHA). Bea was known for her decisive leadership and exemplary skills in writing and editing policy documents. Bea was committed to community service, including leadership with the Girl Scouts of America.

She is survived by her partner of 35 years (and wife of 11 years) Ms. Dorothy Dougherty in Manassas, VA (a native of Jersey City, NJ) and their cat Kamala. She is also survived by her Mother, Virginia Way (neé Lammey), and brother Christopher Way (Denise) of Wilmington DE; her sister Michele Way Andrews (Erik) of Oberlin, OH. Bea enjoyed the love of siblings-in-law: Kathy Barry (Ron) of St Augustine, FL, and Fran Dougherty (May) of Palm Coast, FL. She is preceded in death by her beloved Gram and Aunt Helen of Unionville, PA and nephew by marriage Matthew Brzozowski. Bea loved traveling the world with Dorothy as well as a variety of music genres and especially attending live musical performances. Reading books, magazines and newspapers was a favorite pastime. Bea was a devoted friend to many— too many to list. She will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
