Erin Kathleen Ferris-Mills, born on May 14, 1967, ascended to eternity on February 25, 2026, at her home. Her life, a tapestry woven with creativity, compassion, and vibrant energy, touched the hearts of many.
A graduate of WT Woodson High School in 1985 and Randolph-Macon Woman's College in 1989 where she recieved a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology. She was not only a student but also a talented athlete, excelling in basketball, softball, and lacrosse during high school and college. She went on to graduate from Marymount University in 1994 and earn a second Bachelors degree in Nursing.
Erin's work life was diverse, reflecting her many interests and deep-seated passion for nurturing others. She began her career at Companion Assisted Care, where she organized events and outings for the elderly, a role she cherished deeply. Erin made significant contributions as a Registered Nurse in multiple physician offices and clinics where her gentle kindness shone brightly.
Erin was known for her generous spirit and a personality that could light up any room. She was a daredevil with a healthy dose of humor, always ready to dance to loud music, alone or with others, and to revel in life's joys. Her friends and family remember her as a champion of the underdog, someone who offered kindness and a laugh without reservation . Whether through her laughter or her fierce devotion to those around her, Erin made everyone feel welcome and loved.
As an artist, Erin found beauty in nature, collecting rocks and sticks to craft intricate designs, particularly enjoying creating art from heart-shaped stones. Her love for music was boundless; she not only appreciated it but shared it with joy, introducing others to the melodies that filled her heart.
Throughout her life, Erin dedicated herself to meaningful causes, including volunteering at a battered women's shelter a food bank and the SPCA. She was a proud aunt and trusted confidante to her nephews: Richard "Gus" Ferris, Henry Ferris, and Alfred Ferris, who will greatly miss the pleasure, kindness, guidance, and fun of her company.
Erin is survived by her loving husband Richard Mills, her parents Richard and Lolita Ferris her brother Richard Ferris, sister Caroline Ferris, sister-in-law Trisha Ferris.
Erin joins the death of grandparents Dura and William Cayton, Georgia, and Richard Ferris, all deceased members of their extended families.
Her legacy will be cherished by all who had the privilege to know her, a vibrant soul who lived life to the fullest and spread love wherever she went. Erin Kathleen Ferris-Mills will forever be a shining star in the hearts of many. Her service will be at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 3901 Woodburn Road, Annadale, Virginia, on Monday, March 9th, at 11 am. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Humane Society of Fairfax County.
