Fleming Wister Crosland, Jr., a beloved father and dedicated member of his community, passed away peacefully in his home on January 28, 2026, due to natural causes. Born on January 10, 1950, in Wilson, North Carolina, Fleming lived a life marked by kindness, commitment to education, and a deep love for his family. He successfully retired after more than 40 years of service with Giant Food, a major American regional supermarket chain, where he was well-respected by colleagues and customers alike.

His professional journey was complemented by his strong educational foundation. He graduated from Fayetteville State University with a Bachelor of Arts and further pursued a master's program at American University with a focus on mathematics. He shared his passion for learning as a mathematics tutor, guiding many students with patience and care. His passion for education extended beyond a career; it was a fundamental aspect of his character. He took pride in his academic achievements, viewing them as one of his proudest accomplishments alongside his cherished children, Johnathan and Jennifer.

Known for his warm and generous spirit, Fleming took great joy in nurturing relationships. He delighted in taking his children to swim at the home of his best friend, Gaither, and Gaither's wife, Gwen, fostering joyful memories that his children would carry with them. He was ever the supportive father, surprising both Johnathan and Jennifer by attending their high school graduations. Even after they began their own lives, he never missed an opportunity to call, send birthday cards and stay in touch through emails, demonstrating his unwavering love and thoughtfulness.

Outside of his family life, Fleming embraced various hobbies that brought him happiness. He was passionate about fixing computers and photography, capturing life’s moments through the lens. His favorite television programs included "Martin" and "Judge Judy," which he enjoyed watching in his leisure time. He loved playing spades, tunk, listening to soulful music and actively participated in nurturing a supportive community, always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors.

Fleming leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication that will forever be remembered by his daughter, Jennifer Crosland, and son, Johnathan Crosland. He is preceded in death by his father, Fleming W. Crosland Sr., and his mother, Esther Swinney-Crosland. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him, as a kind man who took care of others without expectation, dedicated to education, work, and above all, family.
