IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frank William
Cowan, III
December 13, 1959 – February 16, 2026
Frank William Cowan III, age 66, entered eternal rest on February 16, 2026, while in Hospice care at Montcare Nursing Facility.
He was born on December 13, 1959, in Palatka, Florida to Frank William Cowan, Jr. and Rosa L. Cowan.
Frank was raised in Clinton, Maryland, where he attended Surrattsville Elementary, Junior and Senior High Schools. Later, he returned to Palatka, Florida to live with his beloved grandparents, Naomi and “Honey,” whose love and guidance helped shape the foundation of his life. He proudly graduated from Palatka High School.
He honorably served four years in the United States Navy as a Medical Corpsman. His time in service reflected his compassionate nature and willingness to care for others. After his military service, Frank worked in various areas of the hospitality and culinary industries, bringing dedication and creativity to his craft. He later became a licensed real estate agent, continuing his desire to help others build places to call home.
Frank shared a significant season of life in marriage with Gina Cowan. Though their paths later shifted, that chapter remained meaningful and part of his story. But more than titles and roles, Frank was known for his heart. To know him was to love him. He had a smile that could light up a room and eyes that sparkled with warmth. His generosity was effortless. His spirit was kind. He showed up for people. He had your back. He carried himself with a goodness that felt rare and steady.
Frank and his brother, Curtis, shared a deep bond. They walked through many of life’s adventures side by side, building memories only brothers understand. Their closeness was evident to anyone who saw them together. He also shared a special and treasured relationship with his baby sister, Renetta. They loved singing together, especially gospel music. Their harmonies were more than sound; they were connection, faith, and joy wrapped into one. Frank walked his sister down the aisle on her wedding day, a moment that symbolized the lifelong protection, love, and support he always gave her. He always had her back and the back of anyone blessed enough to cross his path.
Frank lived this life fully. Like all of us, he had chapters that stretched and shaped him. Yet we testify that God is Redeemer, Restorer, and Resurrector. Frank knew and loved the Lord. His life, in its fullness, became a ministry of grace.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank W. Cowan Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted mother, Rosa L. Cowan; his brother, Curtis A. Cowan (Chun); his sister, Renetta D. Weaver (Terrence); his sister-in-law and longtime family friend, Cheryl Cowan; his niece, Charlene Cowan; his nephew, Taylor Lee Curtis Cowan; his former wife, Gina Cowan; his stepson, Mike; his cherished God family, Kathleen McLendon and Michael McLendon; and a host of extended family and friends.
We release him with faith, believing that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. And perhaps we can say with peace that “over there was looking better than over here.”
Well done, good and faithful servant.
