F. Michael Frece Jr., 63 of Springfield died on Sunday, August 23, 2026 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family.

Born on October 7th, 1962 in Washington, DC. Michael, better known as Mickey, was the son of Carolyn Frece. He was raised in Vienna and graduated from Bishop Dennis J. O'Connell High School.

Mickey spent 44 years married to his wife, Kim, with whom he built a beautiful and loving family. Together they raised three daughters and later welcomed two grandchildren, who brought even more joy to their lives. He was a devoted husband and father but he was especially proud to call himself PawPaw.

He worked as a warehouse supervisor for Fairfax County Public Schools for over 20 years. Outside of work, he loved spending time with his family, watching his Washington sports teams, coaching youth sports and playing softball. One of his favorite pastimes was heading to Nationals park with his wife to watch the game. When he wasn't at the ballpark you could find him on the sidelines cheering on his grandkids at one of their many sports games.

Mickey also spent many years coaching girls basketball, a role he truly loved. Over the years, he had the joy of coaching his daughters and later experienced the full-circle privilege of coaching his granddaughter as well.

Those who knew Mickey will remember him for being genuine, protective, loyal and always there when you needed him. He didn't always tell you what you wanted to hear but he had a way of telling you exactly what you needed to hear. He loved deeply, protected the people he cared about, and would do whatever he could to help someone in need. If he loved you, you never had to question whether he was in your corner.

He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Frece; his three daughters, Christine Frece, Rebecca Frece, and Stephanie Moore; his son-in-law Justin Moore; his two grandchildren, Haley and Junior Moore; his two sisters Kathleen Frece and Sheila Livingston and his brother Patrick Frece and sister-in-law Tammy Frece; and multiple nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Frece.
