Gary M. Graves

Gary M. Graves, 78, of Springfield, VA, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2025. He was born on Ground Hog’s Day, February 2, 1947 in Freeport, IL to Delbert and Zenna (Harris) Graves. Gary served in the United States Army for 4 years, including a tour of Vietnam. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. For many years, he enjoyed annual trips to AZ to visit family and to fish at Roosevelt Lake. One of his most memorable vacations was visiting family in Alaska, going salmon and halibut fishing, and bringing back 70 lbs of fresh salmon filets. Gary was also an incredible carpenter; having worked on his own for many years, building beautiful decks and providing home renovation services. He also worked several years for the Department of Interior HQ as their resident carpenter, before retiring from there. Gary had also previously been a member of the Elks and was currently a member of the American Legion and a life member of the VFW.

Gary is survived by his wife, Patricia (Pat); his daughter Dana (David) Dinderman; his son Michael Graves; 6 grandchildren; sister Zenna (Darryl) Busch; sister-in-law Helen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ken Graves.
