George Edward
Brown
November 2, 1935 – January 6, 2026
George Edward Brown, age 90, of Bladensburg, Maryland, peacefully departed this life on January 6, 2026, at Hospice Chesapeake in Waldorf, Maryland. He was cremated thereafter. George was born on November 2, 1935, in Charlottesville, Virginia (Albemarle County) to Benjamin Harrison Brown and Maggie Lily Carr. George carried the spirit of a proud country upbringing with him throughout his life. As a young man, George answered the call to serve his country and proudly enlisted in the United States Army, where he served from 1954 to 1955.
A natural entrepreneur, George founded Brown’s Upholstery in Brentwood, Maryland, in 1977. Through skill, determination, and pride in craftsmanship, he built a business that served the Prince George’s County community and surrounding areas for more than three decades. For approximately 35 years, Brown’s Upholstery stood as a testament to George’s work ethic, reliability, and dedication to his customers. George was always known for being sharply dressed and impeccably put together. Beneath that polished exterior was a charming, warm-hearted man whose kindness and humor left lasting impressions on everyone he met. Outside of his work, George enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He was passionate about sports, loved music, enjoyed fishing, and had a special appreciation for cars.
George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eloise Brown, with whom he shared life centered around laughter and love. He was also preceded in death by his son, Randy Brown, as well as his siblings Benjamin Brown Jr., Hugh Brown, Pauline Parham, Elenore Rawlings, Francine Doughty, and Frances Wilson.
He leaves behind his children, Calvin Fray, Gwendolyn Brown, Joshua Brown, and Marquis Brown; his last living sister, Lottie Thomas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy; and many extended family members and friends whose lives were touched by his presence. The family extends their deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to Dianne Nesbitt and Brenda Brown-Davis, two of his extraordinary nieces whose compassion, care, and unwavering support meant so much leading up to his last days.
His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Though he is no longer with us in body, the lessons he taught, the work he built, and the love he gave will remain with us forever.
