George Fay Little III, 71 passed away on August 21, 2025, in Clifton, Virginia. Born on April 15, 1954, in Cleveland, Ohio, George lived a life marked by curiosity, compassion, and an enduring love for learning and connection.
George pursued higher education at Ohio University and later at Old Dominion University. His professional journey began as an Accident Investigator—a role that demanded precision and analytical thinking. However, it was in the classroom where George found his true calling. Drawn to working with special needs students and inspired by a desire to make science accessible and exciting, he transitioned into teaching. He served as a substitute teacher before becoming a dedicated middle school earth science and biology teacher in Washington D.C.'s inner city schools. George’s passion for education was evident in the way he encouraged students to explore the natural world and discover their own potential.
Beyond his professional life, George was known for his vibrant personality—cool, funny, and endlessly smart. A gifted conversationalist, he had a knack for engaging others with stories and insights drawn from his wide-ranging interests. He especially loved talking about Hawaii, which held a special place in his heart. Whether it was the ocean breeze or the island culture that captivated him most, Hawaii became a recurring theme in his conversations and dreams.
George’s hobbies reflected his zest for life. He loved to travel and embraced every opportunity to experience new places and cultures. Music was another lifelong passion; he enjoyed going to concerts and immersing himself in the rhythm of live performances. An avid reader of history, George had an insatiable curiosity about the past and how it shaped the present. He also had a deep affection for animals and found peace near the ocean—especially along the shores of Hawaii.
Above all else, George was a devoted family man. He is survived by his beloved wife Therese Little; his son Callum Little and daughter-in-law Isabella Little; and his eldest son George Templeton. His love for his family was unwavering, and he took great pride in being a wonderful father.
He was preceded in death by his father George Little, mother Stella Little, and sister Laura Hodge.
