Gerald David Babbitt, born on March 27, 1940, in Queens, New York, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, in Burtonsville, Maryland. He lived a life dedicated to both his profession and passions, leaving a profound impact on those who knew him.

Gerry attended the University of Florida for his undergraduate studies before earning his law degree from the University of Miami. His legal career began with the Internal Revenue Service, where he served as an attorney, a role that he later expanded upon in private practice for several years.

In addition to his successful career in law, Gerry was known for his deep love of baseball. He transformed this passion into a thriving business with Babbitt Baseball, which operated hundreds of youth baseball camps across the Washington D.C. and Baltimore areas over a span of more than twenty years. Gerry also founded the Ponce De Leon Baseball League, a unique opportunity for men over thirty to relive their youthful days on the diamond. These programs brought joy and recreation to thousands of children and adults, underscoring Gerry's commitment to fostering community and sportsmanship.

Gerry's personal interests extended beyond the field; he was an avid race track enthusiast, often spending time immersed in the excitement of thoroughbred racing.

Gerry also proudly served his country, with six months of active duty in the Coast Guard, followed by seven years in the reserves.

He is survived by his beloved wife Judith Babbitt, their daughter Tracey Connelly and her husband Larry, their son Todd Babbitt and his wife Sonia, and their son Carson Babbitt and his wife Tess. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Sofia Babbitt, Andrea Babbitt, Clark Babbitt, and Autumn Babbitt. Gerry is also survived by his brother Ted Babbitt, brother Ken Babbitt, and sister Shelly Romanelli.

He will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for the warmth and kindness he extended to everyone he encountered. His presence will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
