Glenda Sue Jones (Johnson) passed away on July 1, 2026, in Manassas, Virginia, surrounded by her children, leaving a legacy of love, faith, and devotion to family. She was born July 6, 1937, in Raton, New Mexico, to Elva Mae Johnson (née Stucker) and Allen Bernard Johnson.

Glenda raised four children and never stopped working to improve herself and her life. After her children were grown, she returned to school and earned a business degree from George Mason University in her 50s – an accomplishment she was proud of and that reflected her lifelong determination to keep growing. She stayed active and engaged for decades, volunteering through her church, encouraging others, and giving her time in quiet, meaningful ways. She also enjoyed swimming, walking, drawing, and painting, and she had a special love for dogs.

She is survived by her sister, Karen Steuve (Johnson); her four children, Keri Murphy (Starr), Michael Starr, Arthur Edmond “Eddie” Starr, and Elizabeth “Beth” Armstrong (Starr); 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Glenda’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or Sudley United Methodist Church.
