No Gifted one September day, was a son to Lois and Lester; their Gregory Lee was adored.

Donned in Eton style suits, knit sweater sets, and high polished high tops, young Gregory’s ego could have been impacted disastrously. But much more important and in ordained balance, he was graced (donned) with the highest intellect.

Baby boy’s incarnation was Mighty Mouse.

And his inclination, was to “save the day”.

As witness were his sisters, Francine and Cheryl, who for certain, possessed a number of emotional adjectives, the least of which were amused and mortified.

But in many ways, Gregory did go on to save the day, well advocating for those same same sisters and very willingly obliging himself to the good influence and good care of his six nieces and nephews.

We forever hold dear those remembrances.

Life, in dosing its challenges, was riveting, and in acknowledgement of human frailty, our turns at support presented.

But, remaining our ace in the hole / whole, unvanquished were his life-long SUPER POWERS; his analytical mind, his listening ear, his quiet contemplation, his overt opinion, and his sage advice.

A continual learner, Gregory enjoyed British television, the History channel, and innumerable audio books.

Always dressed for peace, he also mightily enjoyed walking the tranquility of his Friendship Heights neighborhood.

Ironically, with ne’er smoke nor drink, a cruel baton was passed.

And most remarkable during this time, was his continued effort at our protection.

With bravery prevailing those final days,

on a sunny September morning,

we lost him.

And though, his remaining sister Cheryl and generations of nieces and nephews are deeply saddened, we are buoyed by the hope of his reunification with his fathers and mothers; Robert and Geneva Rollins, Lester and Eloise Gibson, and Frank Williams. And also, with his eldest sister Francine and her son, our beloved Chucky.

From September thru Septembers;

if that which is most important,

occurs between the dates,

or

by how you run your race

when the baton is passed,

and

if a quiet life, is a revolutionary life

then

Grandson. Son. Brother. Uncle. Mentor. Leader. Genius.

Brave. Humble. Stoic. Fragile and Strong,

are enough.
