Captain Hugh J. Campbell passed on June 2, 2025 in McLean, Virginia at the age of 95. Hugh was born in Ossining, New York to Hugh J. Campbell, Sr and Mary (Irving) Campbell. He received his undergraduate degree from Stevens Institute of Technology and received his masters degree at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He entered the naval officer program and served as a naval pilot receiving many awards and distinctions, including a Bronze star. After his thirty year career in the Navy, he worked in the Pentagon.

Hugh was very dedicated to his career, but had a strong appreciation for music, art, history and gardening. He also prided himself in his love of corvettes, the only car he would own, which he drove even in his last year.

Hugh was predeceased by his parents, his two brothers: Thomas Joseph (Tucker) in 1954 and John Peter (Jack) in 2022. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Betty (Jack) Campbell, four nieces, one nephew and eleven grand nieces and nephews. Hugh was fortunate to have wonderful neighbors on Meadow Green Lane and a devoted grandniece, Kerry DeMella, who enabled him to live the independent life that he desired.

Captain Hugh Campbell will have a funeral mass at Saint John the Beloved in McLean followed by burial with full military honors to be determined by Arlington National Cemetery.
