Jackie Lee Downey, 90, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on December 7, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him most.

Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Louise Downey; his children Ronnie and Patty Downey, Robert and Wendy Downey, Lia and Mickey Power, and June and Lorenzo Rogers. He is also survived by his siblings Bobby and Libby Downey and Givens Downey; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a tremendous source of pride and joy to him.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ellen Downey; his son, Richard Downey; his daughter, Margie Jones; his brother, Ernie Downey; and his sister, Gladys Stalnaker.

Jack proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as an engine mechanic. Following his honorable discharge, he built a long and respected career as a plumber and sprinkler fitter with Local Union 669. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and dedication—qualities that carried through every part of his life.

Above all else, Jack was a devoted family man. He will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew him.

The family will hold a private celebration of life.
