December 1, 1960 — January 29, 2025

Falls Church, Virginia

James Gilmore (Jim ) Hamill of Falls Church, passed into Glory on Sunday, January 27, while sleeping. He was 64 and died from complications associated with muscular dystrophy and cardiovascular disease that had affected him since childhood. Born in Houston, Texas, on December 1, 1960, he grew up in Pittsburgh after his parents, Gilmor and Mary Jo, were transferred there. Jim attended the University of Pittsburgh as a physics major. He moved to Falls Church in 2008 and spent the latter part of his life working on construction sites as a mechanical specialist, which served him well as a retail representative at Home Depot. In addition, Jim served as a volunteer with Rebuilding Together and The American Red Cross.

Jim had a passion for analytics and systems operations, driven by his skills in math and science. He attended The Falls Church Anglican, was a long-time participant in the Men’s Monday Bible Study and prayer ministries including The Persecuted Church. Jim Hamill lived a quiet life, had a gentle spirit and wry sense of humor. His character is best described by Ephesians 4:1-3, “I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

He is survived by his sister, Jennifer Collins and loved by all his brothers in Christ
