IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jason Robert
Neumer
September 2, 1983 – October 28, 2025
Jason Robert Neumer, 42, of Falls Church, VA, passed away peacefully at home on October 28, 2025, after a courageous 10-month battle with Glioblastoma (GBM), an aggressive and incurable grade 4 brain tumor.
Born and raised in Waldorf, Maryland, Jason grew up with a love for soccer, even helping lead his high school team to a State Championship. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Maryland. After graduating, he began a successful career in government contracting as a financial analyst and most recently spent the last nine years serving an instrumental role in acquisition and program management for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).
Jason had an infectious zest for life and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He loved camping, hiking, skiing, mountain biking, and running, even achieving his goal of a sub-7-minute-mile pace at a 5k race in September last year. His active lifestyle inspired those around him, and he organized trips with family and friends to share his love of nature, playful spirit, and sense of adventure with those he cherished most. Among the many memories he created were: three-day music festival camping trips, a giant house at the Outer Banks to celebrate 40th birthdays, pontoon rides with pups on several lakes, bar and winery hopping through Portugal and Spain, countless ski trips out West, a backpacking trip to a glacial lake in Idaho, and several trips to Cancun with kiddos in tow.
Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, Jason could make anyone laugh. He found happiness in life’s simple pleasures - mixing the perfect cocktail, perfecting his spaghetti and meatballs, analyzing a Christopher Nolan movie and tackling any of life’s challenges with creativity, humor and ease. He had a lifelong love of music—whether discovering new bands, revisiting old favorites, jamming out at a concert or turning up a song that matched his mood. His playlists were legendary among family and friends, and there are too many concerts, festivals, dive-bar band performances and back-yard playlist curations to count.
Of all his accomplishments, Jason’s greatest joy was being a father and husband. He and his wife Rachel met over 16 years ago and quickly became inseparable. They were married in the mountains of Western North Carolina in 2012, followed by an incredible dance party and unforgettable late night shared with friends and family. Jason and Rachel’s deep connection and love for one another was evident to anyone who spent more than a moment in their presence. When their daughter Rosalind was born he quickly relished in his new role as a father, becoming Rosalind’s best bud with games like Slamma Pajama, Mojito Shark, and Croco Dad; teaching her how to ride a scooter and bike; and sharing his love of music with her and helping her develop her first dance moves for what became almost-daily dance parties in the kitchen while they cooked meals together. The birth of their son Luke brought so much additional joy as he made the Neumer family complete, and Jason filled two full months of parental leave enjoying lots of father/son snuggles, naps and carrier walks. Jason took pride in caring for his family—cooking, cleaning, planning adventures and creating lasting memories on family trips.
Jason is survived by his loving wife, Rachel Neumer; his children, Rosalind (6) and Luke (1) Neumer; his siblings, Jessica Neumer, Derrick Neumer, and Meghan Valerio; his parents, Robert and Patricia Neumer; his mother-in-law, Marie Codinha, and her husband, Luis Codinha; his father-in-law, Harold Smith; his brother-in-law, Ballin Smith and sister-in-law, Katherine Smith; and his nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
A celebration of Jason’s life will be held on Friday, November 28, at Solace Outpost in Falls Church, VA.
