Jennifer Chandler, a beloved mother and sister, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 13, 2026, peacefully at home and surrounded by the love of her family.

Jennifer was born on March 20, 1955, in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, to Evans and Sylvia Chandler. She was raised in the Belle Vue neighborhood of Port of Spain, the youngest of eight siblings. She attended Tranquility Girls Secondary High School.

Jennifer immigrated to the United States in 1978 and initially settled in Bailey’s Crossroads, Virginia, where she attended Warner Baptist Church. She received an associate degree in respiratory therapy from the Annandale Campus of Northern Virginia Community College. Early in her career, she worked at Potomac Hospital. The majority of her career was spent at Washington Hospital Center, where she made many lasting friendships and cared for countless patients. Jennifer retired from Washington Hospital Center in October 2025 after more than 30 years of service.

Jennifer was known for her bold, outgoing, and outspoken personality; she was gifted with the natural ability to make friends wherever she went. She was a lover of music, the beach, and travel. Some of her travels included London, Dubai, Guyana and the Caribbean islands, where she was often accompanied by her daughter Ayana.

Jennifer was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her hard work enabled her to maintain a home in Arlington, Virginia, where she created a loving space for Katrina, Ayana and Elijah. She will be remembered for hosting many Fourth of July celebrations, where all were warmly welcomed. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her beloved daughter Ayana Chandler; her cherished grandson Elijah Chandler; five devoted sisters, Glenist Lardy (Lancelot), Esther Chandler, Roslyn Gibson (Valentine), Gloria Lee (Charles), and Elaine “Judy” Ransome (Erskine); her loving brother Rev. Bishop Anthony David Chandler (Patricia) and a host of other friends and relatives, including the Browne and Wheeler families. Jennifer was preceded in death by her parents, Evans and Sylvia Chandler; her beloved daughter Katrina Chandler; and her brother Bishop Samuel Chandler.
