It is with hearts full of gratitude and heartbreak that we announce the passing of our beloved Jennifer Marie (McMahon) Payne, 59, who passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026. Jennifer battled cancer for several years, without a single complaint. She will be greatly missed, but the memories she created will remain forever in our hearts, and we are all better for having known her. We love you Jen, Mom, Aunt Jen, and Mimi.

Jennifer was a graduate of Gaithersburg High School and spent the early part of her life in Germantown, Maryland raising two beautiful children. She worked at George Washington Hospital, where she met the love of her life, (Robert) Bruce Payne. Together they moved to Virginia and bought a house that Bruce joked “lost square footage every year” because of the number of times Jennifer painted and re-painted the rooms. Her ever-present and deeply loved dogs, Agnes and Teddy, made the house a home. The final touch was adding a pool where she could soak up the sun and enjoy quality time with her family. Her life was not only measured in her work accomplishments, of which there were many, or that she was a three-time Cassia Cup Fantasy Football winner, but also in the relationships she developed and maintained over the years. Her extremely close-knit family would spend holidays, birthdays, Sunday dinners, and summer vacations together.

Jennifer is survived by her husband (Robert) Bruce Payne; her children: Brittany Keech (Tyler) and Jay McCormick (Tess), her two grandchildren: Amelia, and a grandson who will be born this summer; her mother, Rose Marie (Raymond) McMahon; her sister, Amy Crawford (Erik); her niece, Maggie; her two dogs, Agnes and Teddy, and many aunts and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Patrick McMahon; her father- and mother-in-law, Bob and Nancy Payne; and grandparents, Amades and Rose (Erculiani) Raymond and Paul and Margaret (Gutwald) McMahon.

Memorial Service Information: A celebration of life will be planned for later this year.
