With profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Dr. Jerzy Antoni Mędrzycki on July 1, 2026, at 88. A devoted husband, father, brother, scholar, author, educator, mentor, and friend, he left a legacy of knowledge, compassion, humility, and unconditional love for his family.

Born April 7, 1938, in Poland to Czesław Mędrzycki and Władysława Dąbrowska, his childhood was shaped by World War II. Those hardships instilled resilience, perseverance, and a lasting appreciation for peace.

Jerzy dedicated his life to learning. He earned two doctorate degrees in electrical engineering and computer science, with the title of habilitated doctor for exceptional contributions to science and higher education. He taught at universities in Poland and New York, inspiring generations with acumen and humility. He believed knowledge was meant to be shared and authored five academic books in Polish and Russian. Jerzy’s work and curiosity took him around the world, where he embraced cultures, formed lifelong friendships, and broadened his understanding of people and ideas.

Those who knew him remember an exceptionally gentle, caring, and sharp man whose first thoughts were always for others. He had a calming presence, quiet wisdom, and a generous heart.

To his family he was a role model, guiding light, and the standard by which they measured integrity, humility, kindness, and strength of character. His influence reached far beyond words, shaping those who loved him through quiet example. They will forever miss his stories, comforting presence, gentle and loving laugh, and the warmth in his kind, happy eyes.

Jerzy is survived by his wife, Stefania Mędrzycka; sons Jacek Mędrzycki and Wojciech Mędrzycki; brother Bernard Mędrzycki; nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, colleagues, and former students whose lives were enriched by his wisdom, generosity, and compassion.

Jerzy lived by example: true success is measured not by titles or accomplishments but by the lives we touch and the love we leave behind.

He was laid to rest July 10, 2026, at Lovettsville Union Cemetery in Lovettsville, Virginia.

Though our hearts are broken, we are forever grateful for the life he lived. His wisdom will continue to guide us, his kindness to inspire us, and his love to remain in our hearts.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Papa, całuski sto dwa.
