John Henry Jefferson, Jr.

John Henry Jefferson Jr (Johnny) departed his earthly life at his residence on May 18, 2024. Johnny was born to the late John Henry Jefferson Sr and Ethel Jefferson on May 23rd, 1951, in Jacksonville, Florida.  

Johnny was raised on the Northside of Jacksonville in the close-knit community of Roosevelt Apartments. He attended Duval County public schools and graduated from Stanton High School in 1969. Soon after graduation, Johnny relocated to Washington DC where he had a 33-year career as a government employee for the United States Treasury Department retiring in 2003.  

Johnny's hobbies were cycling, skating and was an avid reader who always had his library card and a book in hand. Johnny was also a licensed cosmetologist in the District of Columbia. 

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents John Henry and Ethel Jefferson and leaves to cherish his memory; sister Thelma Welcher of Jacksonville, Florida, brother James Gregory Jefferson of Washington, DC. Cousin Dwayne Hughes (Angela) of Washington DC along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
