John Little
Webb-Mcphaul
May 4, 1996 – April 7, 2026
John Little Webb McPhaul, born May 4, 1996, passed away on April 7, 2026. John was born in Fairfax, Virginia, and raised in Oxon Hill, Maryland, before later moving with his family to Hoke County, North Carolina.
John attended Hoke High School and, after returning to Washington, D.C., lived with his sister Decoria for a time before continuing his journey through Job Corps. Throughout his life, John faced challenges from birth due to a disability, but he met life with strength and determination, always giving it everything he had.
He endured deep loss, including the passing of his beloved mother in 2015, which marked a difficult turning point in his life. Despite hardships, including the loss of his father while he was incarcerated and ongoing health struggles, John continued to push forward in his own way. He returned home in 2024 facing the world without his parents, carrying more than most could bear.
John was known for his generous heart. He would give the shirt off his back without hesitation, often saying, “it ain’t about nothing, just a material thing.” He carried a quiet pain and often questioned why life dealt him the hand it did, but those who knew him saw his kindness, his love, and his resilience. He deeply loved his friends, many of whom became like family to him, and he valued those bonds more than anything. John also had a strong love for music, and spending time in the recording studio with his friends was one of his favorite things to do.
He is preceded in death by his father, Welton D. McPhaul, and his mother, Saundra M. Webb-Mcphaul.
He leaves to cherish his memory his sisters, Decoria McPhaul-Martin, Verdessa McPhaul, and Ariel Webb; his brothers, Brian Evans, Justin Webb, and Trequan Whitely; and his beloved nephew, who was like a brother to him, Kadar Sumo, whom he loved deeply. And a bonus brother Wayne Robinson. He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones.
Though John had no children of his own, his presence and impact on those around him will not be forgotten. He lived his life the best way he could, and his memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
We find comfort in hoping that John is finally at peace and free from the burdens he carried. He will forever be missed.
