IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jorge Rolando
Davila
April 22, 1948 – January 7, 2026
Jorge Rolando Davila, 77, of Washington, DC, passed away peacefully at his home on January 7, 2026. Jorge was born in Guatemala on April 22, 1948, and came to the United States at the age of twenty two, carrying with him hope, strength, and dreams for a better future.
We hold many beautiful memories of Jorge from before he became ill. In those years, he was a generous, kind, and compassionate man—thoughtful, supportive, and full of warmth. He built a life in the United States, married, and became a father. For several years, he lived with his family far from us.
When we were able to see him again, Jorge was already struggling with schizophrenia. There were good days and difficult days, and slowly, we began to feel the loss of the man we once knew so well. His illness isolated him and made his world smaller and lonelier.
For many years, we stayed connected through our sister-in-law, Sarah Connie Calderon, who shared news and photographs with us. Although we were unable to see Jorge in person for nearly twelve years, those monthly pictures helped us feel close to him and reminded us that he was never forgotten.
We will miss him deeply—the photos, the updates, and the quiet comfort of knowing how he was doing. Though our hearts are heavy, we find peace in believing that one day we will see him again in heaven, free from illness and pain.
Rest in peace, Jorge.Your soul now flies free. You will always live on in our hearts.
Matthew 11:28 - “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Following cremation, a memorial will be held at a later date in North Carolina.
